When Your Thoughts Keep Spiralling
You may feel mentally overwhelmed and stuck in cycles of overthinking. During the day, you may be juggling responsibilities while feeling anxious, drained, or emotionally reactive.
At night, your thoughts may spiral. You may replay conversations, question decisions, worry about the future, or wonder why you keep taking things personally.
I’m Shoshanah Natelson, LMSW, a licensed master social worker with 2 to 3 years of post-MSW clinical experience, licensed in New York. I provide virtual therapy throughout New York State.
Why Work With Me
I help clients slow things down and understand what is actually going on beneath the anxiety or overwhelm.
Many of the people I work with want to feel calmer, stop overthinking, second-guess themselves less, improve relationships, set boundaries, and feel more confident and in control of their emotions.
My style is warm and supportive, but also honest and direct when it is helpful. I am relatable, easy to talk to, and I provide both emotional support and practical tools that clients can actually use in their daily lives.
The work is not just about talking. It is about helping you understand patterns, thoughts, and reactions that keep coming up, and finding ways to handle them differently.
I am a good fit for clients who are open to self-reflection, want to understand themselves better, and are looking for both support and gentle guidance to make changes.
My Approach to Therapy
My approach is supportive, insight-focused, and practical.
I help clients slow things down, understand what is coming up for them, and gently challenge patterns that keep them stuck. Sessions are a mix of talking things through and learning practical ways to handle emotions and situations outside of therapy.
I use CBT, DBT skills, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and elements of IFS-informed work. In plain language, that means we may look at your thoughts, emotions, patterns, communication, boundaries, values, reactions, and the different parts of you that may feel pulled in different directions.
I focus on making therapy feel practical and applicable to real life, not just something that stays in the session.
What Working With Me Is Like
Therapy with me is warm, honest, and grounded.
I meet clients where they are, while also helping them move forward. We may talk through relationship stress, family conflict, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, burnout, self-doubt, or the moments when you feel unsure of how to respond.
I will help you understand your thoughts and emotions, recognize patterns, and learn concrete tools to manage emotional distress, improve communication, and feel more in control.
Over time, a small but meaningful change may look like pausing before reacting, feeling more grounded in yourself, and responding instead of spiraling or overanalyzing.
I may not be the best fit for clients who are not ready to engage in self-reflection or make changes outside of sessions.
Getting To Know Me
I have experience working in outpatient mental health settings, medical environments, and addiction treatment. I have worked with adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, and life transitions.
My roles have included providing individual therapy, supporting discharge planning in medical settings, and working closely with clients as they learn to manage emotions and navigate change.
Outside of my work, I value meaningful connection and prioritize intentional time with close friends and loved ones. I find balance and renewal through painting, as well as time spent in the mountains and in nature. Those spaces help me slow down, recharge, and stay grounded.
Slowing down and getting grounded matters in my own life, and it is also part of how I show up in therapy.
