When You’re Getting Through the Day but Struggling Inside

You may be going through your day, interacting with people at work or in your personal life, while internally dealing with anxiety, depression, or thoughts that are difficult to quiet.

Negative or intrusive thoughts can make it harder to feel calm, connect with others, or use the coping strategies you know might help. You may want things to feel different but find it difficult to manage everything happening in your head.

I’m Katie Walsh, LCSW. I provide virtual therapy throughout New York State for adults navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship concerns, eating disorders, fertility and IVF, and difficult thought patterns.

Why Work With Me

I have 14 years of experience providing therapy and 20 years of experience working in the mental health field.

My approach is person-centered. I meet you where you are and guide you through the process of changing and growing without expecting you to follow a strict path.

I listen openly and provide a nonjudgmental space to talk about things that may not feel comfortable discussing with other people. I may also help you see a situation from another point of view.

If you appreciate a little humor in therapy and want support that is gentle and validating but direct when needed, this may be a good fit.

My Approach to Therapy

I help by giving you a platform that is all about you.

It is a chance to speak with someone who is not involved in the things happening in your day-to-day life or your past. You have time each week where someone is listening to what you have to say and offering an outside point of view.

I may also give you tools that you can choose to use to help with whatever you are working through.

The goal is to meet you where you are and support you as you work through things in a way that feels right for you.

What Working With Me Is Like

In sessions, I am gentle, insight-focused, supportive, and validating. I will also be direct when it feels necessary.

We may talk about negative or intrusive thoughts, relationships, substance use, anxiety, depression, or situations that are difficult to work through on your own.

I do not use a strict regimen. Instead, we work together and adjust based on what you need.

Sometimes meaningful change starts with seeing something positive about yourself that you did not notice before, no matter how small it may seem.

Getting To Know Me

I have worked in the mental health field for 20 years across group homes, residential treatment centers, foster care, in-home therapy, opioid treatment, mental health clinics, and group private practice.

These experiences have allowed me to work with people across different ages and circumstances, including individuals and families affected by substance use.

Outside of being a therapist, I love music and make time to work out because I believe both have a positive impact on mental health. I am also a wife and mother of three.
